Date: 2025-08-09 10:40 am (UTC)Also I'm going to work on sorting new postal stamps I've recently gotten from friends. That's a hobby that always gives me comfort.
And lastly I've been enjoying playing Animal crossing New horizons more. A few months back I created a new island and it's been a fun process starting fresh again.

Date: 2025-08-09 01:38 pm (UTC)I've done a lot of work fleshing out and organizing the content that will be hosted on my Quartz site, but it's not exposed to the web yet. It's a WIP project where I'm figuring out the balance of a functional and organized yet not over-engineered Obsidian vault/personal wiki/digital garden. It feels like a very worthwhile use of time, though, and I'm already finding myself using the reformatted and improved notes as a reference point.
I do find it a bit funny how different the content of my Quartz site is from the vast majority of example "digital gardens" you see going around. The content I'm used to seeing is, unsurprisingly, mostly about programming or PKM or STEM coursework. Applying the same principles to my notes about, idk, kink feels like I'm doing something scandalous.
Oh, and I made a quick and dirty Neocities page for the local HTML freewrites meetup group I'm hoping to coordinate.

Date: 2025-08-09 02:14 pm (UTC)No real progress from me this month (I've been dealing with health issues) but I do have a question: anyone know any good lightweight blogging scripts? Ideally PHP; I'm not looking for a static site generator since I'd like to be able to update it from mobile. Crucially I'd also like to be able to backdate posts, as I have a bunch of writing I'm hoping to archive...

Date: 2025-08-09 04:05 pm (UTC)If you're interested, I'm basically using method #2 from this article:
https://dev.to/koustav/3-ways-to-display-content-on-hovering-over-an-element-using-only-css-3d4m
but with the #id replaced with span[id^="myid"] which lets me style every unique id with one block of code, just so long as I make sure to include "myid" at the start of its name.
Adding white-space: pre-line;
and
word-wrap: break-word;
lets me input line and paragraph breaks using the symbol, since data-title text doesn't allow for the usual html tags.
I think my next project is going to be adding some content I have floating around in my personal notes, but not uploaded. After that, I sort of flip-flop between creating new webpages, and adding content to what I've already uploaded, but failed to flesh out.

Date: 2025-08-09 07:56 pm (UTC)It's kinda killing me not being able to set it up now tbh. I'm so excited to start my self-hosting journey! I'm thinking of setting up various femslash-themed fandom communities.

Date: 2025-08-09 11:41 pm (UTC)Right now I’m working on making all the links more accessible (adding titles, making the hyperlink text clearer, removing target=_ ...).

Date: 2025-08-11 05:24 am (UTC)I decided to stop using Notion for anything so I needed to write down my recipes elsewhere. I still wanted to be able to look at them on my phone when I'm in the kitchen, so I spent an afternoon typing and whipping up this Recipes page. It was really fun because I learned how to use filters (though my javascript has become messy in my haste to get this up/working quickly).

Date: 2025-08-12 10:36 pm (UTC)I haven't had a lot of opportunity to plan so far because August snuck up on me and then Covid snuck up on me (definitely didn't see that one coming >.>) but I thought that the format last time worked pretty well, in terms of the check-in frequency/amount (weekly check-ins for a total of five) and subject (topic requests/suggestions are also welcomed!)

Date: 2025-08-12 11:05 pm (UTC)I'm definitely up for it! I enjoyed how you ran it last year. If I can think up any topics I'll let you know :^)
Hope you're feeling better!

Date: 2025-08-13 02:17 am (UTC)I have had my ass kicked by summer in general and am looking to have a busy September, but let me know what you need and I'll help how I can. ^_^

Date: 2025-08-13 02:23 pm (UTC)I've also been run off my feet this summer and while September might be more sane, I'm not expecting to have the kind of free time I had this time last year when I was literally on holiday xD (Though, only for the first week and a half of the event) So, I was wondering about recruiting a helper or two to make sure comments get a reply - I'd like it if everyone who leaves a comment on each check-in post gets a reply from someone, and a lot of times that just comes from people organically chatting to each other, but it would be great to make sure that no-one is left out. Last year I took it upon myself to do all those replies, but it was a lot and I fell behind and felt bad xD
So I think the sensible thing to do would be to ask if anyone wants to help out with this xD I was thinking I could make a pre-announcement post to the comm similar to last year, so people know it's coming up, and mention it there.
Another thing I was thinking is that last year, we decided that the check-in posts shouldn't be too excessive because the comm was pretty quiet, and while there's more people around now, I still think that one a week is a good frequency to make sure that people have time to do stuff in between. But I was thinking of encouraging people to make posts in between if they want to share a cool resource, ask for help, talk about their projects, and what have you. People did that anyway last time, and they do it now, so it would mostly be a level of reassurance that it's okay (and welcome) to make direct posts to the comm if you want to, which may result in an uptick in posts. Is there anything that would concern you about that possibility? Are there any types of post that would be off-limits, or are we good to go as long as people follow the Community Guidelines?

Date: 2025-08-17 10:34 am (UTC)Nope, that sounds good, and I do want to start making a longer list of resources for the sticky post, so this can work double. I think as long as people follow the basic guidelines, they're good.

Date: 2025-08-23 02:49 pm (UTC)Awesome, thank you very much! <3 I'm gonna work on the pre-announcement for later today (or tomorrow... I also have a Seasons of Drabbles deadline that I've been very much ignoring 😂 *Mr Incredible voice* "I've got time.")

Date: 2025-08-15 01:57 am (UTC)In the meantime I made another backup of my site cause it's been a while. And I plan to organize some files in a different copy of the backup since there's folders and files in there I don't need anymore. The neocities file editor is not fun to work with so that's why I'm doing it this way. Though I'll have to figure out how to update everything later... I'll worry about that a different time.
