As a reminder, this is the first of five ‘check-in’/comment points that will be published during the event – you can check out the schedule and dates of these posts over on the event intro. There’s no cut-off point for commenting on these, so you can add something at any time – you also don’t need to comment on them all or do them in order! The themes are a loose guide, but all discussion is welcome.
This first post will be for introducing yourself and your project(s) and talking about what you’re planning to do during the month. Of course, there’s no obligation to stick to what you’ve set down and no-one will be checking up xD But it can be a nice thought exercise! You’re free to make the goal(s) as broad or as specific as you like – it’s totally up to you.

Date: 2024-09-02 06:55 pm (UTC)Currently waiting to have my server isolated better from the LAN after a move to Proxmox, then, I'll see about actually working on my website lol. Sketched out a map of pages the other day, want to start laying some groundwork, figuring out how I want to use layouts in Astro, my SSG. And some styling! Feels like I've got too many branching paths hah, we'll see where it goes.

Especially content collections - it feels like every time I add something I end up going "this would be so much easier with a collection" (and then I turn it into one and yep, I was right).

I was introduced to it by Ms Boba over on Fandom Coders! It's been serving me well so far, though I've only really dipped my toes into it, content collections are next on the list for me. What do you use them for? (Would love some inspiration, haha!)

changes- changelog entries. I have a component on the homepage that renders a list of date+summary for each, a separate page with the full content, and I also render it as an RSS feed.fanfiction- fanfics. I already write in markdown, so these are just copies from my own files with added frontmatter - link to AO3, tags, summary, and so on. They have automatic detail page, and I also have a component that renders as a "card" of sorts, to throw anywhere I want (as seen on the /fanfiction page).recs- fanfic (and other) recommendations. I generate the /reclist page out of them - this is totally unnecessary, but I really wanted some nice formatting and anyway, it was 100% more fun.bling- buttons. I got a few 88x31 buttons, added the first one to the homepage, and went "oh my god I'm not copy-pasting this HTML for every single one of these!" ...so now I'm copy-pasting a YAML file and writing a filename and alt into it. Which is obviously superior, I don't know who could contradict that. :Pno subject

I should have made the whole thing a public GitHub repo from the start, dammit. It didn't occur to me, and now I have dumb notes in the README and I would have to do some git splicing to clean it up and augh, so much hassle. Maybe I can make that one of my SWS goals XD
