Smallweb Chatter Post
Let's have another of these! What's going on?
This is an open post for chatter and showing off what you're working on/just finished/etc. Joy and frustration are equally welcome.

Luckily I left it tucked into my clipboard, locked up, but still...
(I mean, just a list of titles and I am a Known Nerd, but...)

Annoying more than embarrassing?

I have determined to Make Some Progress. To whit, starting by assembling some data that I'm going to want to use later. Whether I'll have to manually use that, or be able to do some web scraping is a question for later me, but at least I've worked out how I'm going to work out what needs work. And I've a spreadsheet with the very first pass. Got a bit obsessive about it last night, and worked more than an hour past the sensible stopping point. Hoping that I'll be able to just potter and do half an hour a day for the next couple of weeks, and then that will be done.
Goal is to get 50 reviews up in 50 days. Given that I've read a lot of Hugo nominated works in recent years, I'm going with those as the starting point. What it is going to look like though, zero thoughts.

Oooh, that's a good goal and doesn't sound too complex...
What it is going to look like though, zero thoughts.
Find a layout you like and steal everything not nailed down?

Maybe? Or maybe do something with writing a back end script that takes the web link and makes an appropriately annotated flat file and then play with CSS.
I think the big problem is that I don't know what I want this to look like, and I'm letting perfection be the enemy of progress. I should throw together a framework, and then just dump some text up. Sorting and filtering can come later. But the problem with that 'should' is that I keep going 'but I don't know how to deal with it when it scales', which means I have to do some reading.
*sigh* This would be so much easier if I knew what I wanted.

a friend on here linked this web circle / the september challenge and I'm so charmed. definitely considering joining the semptember challenge because I'm in my last phase of updating my art site (https://kradeelav.com/) with the logs moved off of wordpress to tegalog, a JP microblogging software you can self host. fiddly, but worth it.

with the logs moved off of wordpress
Ah, glad you found something. Wordpress was just... so disappointing but not surprising at this point.

(I always wanted a BJD but cost... I ended up with a Monster High collection instead and not sure I ended up financially any better off, whoops.)

If you're interested in BJD, the cost of entry has never been lower and I'd be happy to help - e.g., if you find a secondhand doll you like on a Japanese site, I can act as a proxy buyer (no finder's fee or anything - this is a hobby that makes me happy and I want to help people get into it if they're curious but put off by the cost).
