I used to do this on fandom sites that I created, but over time, I found that most of the sites I linked to disppeared and I couldn't find any replacements because by that time sites like facebook, twitter, etc, had become the norm, rather than websites people actually made. Commerical sites don't need me linking to them, newssites don't. There are lots of personal websites on neocities but the sites aren't about anything other than the creator and fansites don't seem to exist anymore now. There are fanlistings of course, but unless it has more on it than just a fanlisting, it's a boring site that doesn't do much and it seems that owning lots of them is the goal, rather than making it a good website.
