I've gotten into me to finally get up and running again an archive for my fics, but I'm spending way too much time trying to get the layout to look simple but decent.
I'm currently struggling against the temptation to create a Death Note fansite. I already have my Final Fantasy VIII and Silent Hill 2 sites; I don't need a third website! But I do love rambling about Light Yagami, and it's tempting to make a space dedicated to that.
Hi there! I'll take this post as an opportunity to share something here for the first time! I've been working on making a website since last year, but gave up after a few months (I got too over my head and then Life Happened.) However, I finally got something I was happy to show off this month, after working on it half-way through May. It's a Pokémon fansite dedicated to my favorite game and character. Here's the link if anybody wants to check it out!
I'm really excited to keep adding to it in the future! I've started signing up to webrings and cliques and weblistings and it's so nice to finally be able to provide a website to join them, lol. I'm looking forward to sharing more progress here, too, and discuss this new hobby with people who share it! (In case it isn't obvious, I'm extremely website-brained at the moment. The temptation to tell everyone I meet that They Should Make A Website has been hard to resist, but I'm being very strong and brave right now.)
Unfortunately, I'll be very busy the rest of the month, so I don't expect I'll have much time to work on it more, although I want to do a million things right now... I should probably make a (better, more organized) to-do list or something.
I've revamped my about page(s) in the continued quest to accurately describe myself/my site, but more satisfyingly I've now built full text RSS feed generation into the static site generator I wrote to build my blog entries, so full posts will show up in feed readers now!
Also put in an option for a "tumblr" category so I can write a bulleted list and the site generation script will turn it into something like a tumblr post (https://tre.praze.net/notes/20250613/) with the bullet points displaying as tags, so I can "reblog" posts from tumblr with ease.
I keep coming up with new ideas for pages, but feel like I have too many other priorities to start doing website work again. I've opened a bunch of issues for my lightbox script so that I can get to them later, though! Just need to refamiliarise myself with the code...
I've found Linkslist.app, what seems to be a small dev operation of a web app that lets you build pages of links, which might be useful to me as I try to evangelize to other people about making link lists.
I have been working on a zine that is indieweb related by writing articles, but have no real release date. Talking to a friend of mine made me realize that putting technical information in a zine, while it may go out of date quickly, may still reach an audience that I wouldn't otherwise. One of the articles is about link lists and I am going to create an html/css template for the article but my life has been a bit crazy so I haven't gotten around to it yet.
i've rly rekindled my love for web design this month :> i moved and redesigned my neocities site to my own hosting & domain. i also created a few more pages for it (sketchbook, caption the sketch, & page for my OCs). it's just nice to be having fun with it again! (catso.club if anyone is curious)
